Individual Book Grants
Grants for a wide range of titles, both fiction and non-fiction, including literary works, for adults and children.
Grants, offered annually, for publishing programmes consisting of at least 8 titles. A publisher must have published books under the Individual Book Grants Scheme before being able to apply to become a Programme Grant Publisher.
Payments for Authors
Grants which enable publishers to offer competitive commissions and payments to authors for works of wide appeal, for adults and children.
Payments for Illustrators and Photographers
Grants which enable publishers to commission original work for illustrated books for adults and children.
Grants toward the cost of employing creative editors.
Marketing Grants: Launches and Signing Tours
Grants towards book launches and author signing tours.
The objective of the scheme is to ensure that varied and lively magazines are published for children, young people and adults, containing good writing and, where appropriate, quality journalism, reviews and discussion on a variety of topics. The Council awards franchises to magazines and periodicals for a period of up to three years. Grants were awarded for the 2016-19 period in September 2015.
A grant is also awarded to support a Welsh-language news service. This is currently run by Golwg Newydd Cyf. and is called Golwg360. Their current franchise runs from 2014 to March 2017.
A small grant is available for the development of electronic material, e-books and apps in particular.
Grants toward the cost of publishing games, for adults and children, in which the use of language is central.
