A team of avid readers from Sant Baruc Primary School, Vale of Glamorgan, have been crowned the 2018 Champions of BookSlam, the Welsh Books Council's annual reading competition for children.

The Welsh Books Council has announced the winners of the 2018 Tir na n-Og Welsh-language Awards at the Brecon and Radnorshire Urdd National Eisteddfod at Builth Wells.

Wales; the land of song, daffodils, sheep, rolling hills, Gareth Bale, a baked bean museum and so, so, so much more!

On Friday, 1 June, at the Urdd National Eisteddfod in Builth Wells, the Welsh Books Council and the National Centre for Learning Welsh will launch the first ten new titles in the  Amdani  (Go for it!) series  –  with the Minister for Welsh Language and Lifelong Learning, Eluned Morgan AM.

The Welsh Books Council are in search of just that. For the best in Welsh language children and young adult literature throughout the years so that it can be shared with today's audience.

After many months reading through Wales' literary offerings from 2017, two independent judging panels have chosen their 9-strong Short Lists for both the English and Welsh-language Wales Book of the Year Awards 2018.

Author Hayley Long wins the Tir na n-Og children's literature award for YA title.

A fun evening for Welsh learners will be held by the publishers of the Amdani Series, on Wednesday, May 9 - at the Quins Club, Carmarthen, starting at 19.30.

Llandeilo town will host some top talent for the Award winning  Hwyl Llandeilo Litfest,  26-29 April. For the second time the small town will be a platform for writers, poets, artists, comedians and musicians.

The Welsh Books Council is very pleased to announce that a new and exciting series of reading books aimed at adults learning Welsh will be published shortly  –  Cyfres Amdani.
