Story Animation Competition

The winners of the competition were:

Reuben Wallace, Cross Ash Primary School, Abergavenny, and

Elin Sian Hughes, Ysgol y Gader, Dolgellau.

Professional animators, Turnip Starfish, held workshops at both schools in order to produce two short animated films based on the winning stories.

Bringing history alive for 2,000 children

Across five days, a week before World Book Day, nearly 2,000 primary school pupils from Merthyr, Tredegar and Aberdare in south Wales, and from Llangefni and Caernarfon in north Wales, will enjoy a comedy theatrical production based on The Troublesome Tudors and Sleazy Stuarts, a book in the Wicked Wales series, published by Gomer Press. The presentation will be held in the majestic setting of the Banqueting Hall at CaerphillyCastle and in the magical former quarrying village of Nant Gwrtheyrn on the Llŷn Peninsula.

Off We Go! pack

This pack introduces a variety of reading materials on the same theme – travel – to KS2 pupils, but it could also be used in Year 7, or for transitional purposes between primary and secondary schools.

The pack includes a handbook for teachers – which gives suggestions on activities based on the texts that could be introduced in the classroom – 15 copies of the pupil’s booklet and a CD, which contains additional resources as well as the complete contents of the pupils’s booklet and the teacher’s book, for use on the electronic whiteboard.
